"You'll be best friends . . . right from the start! All-out action goes with Oldsmobile's inspired new Starfire Styling for '56. The Rocket T-350 - mightiest Rocket ever - blazes forth with an empathic answer to your demand for power. In a flash you streak from standing to cruising . . . ever so smoothly with revolutionary new Jetaway Hydra-Matic. There's new beauty, new protection, too, with 'Intagrille Bumper' design. Stop at your showroom now!"
We can't help, but seen from the front, the 1956 Olds looks much like a whale. And our own experience taught us that it drives like one, too. By todays standards, it swims over the road. In 1956, this was considered as performance car handling. Times change...
Technically based on the generation of 1954, the Olds received it's third facelift in as many years. Sales though were significantly lower than in the years before, which makes 1956 Oldsmobiles a rare sight in Cuba, too. But then, it was a bad year for all companies, and Oldsmobile could keep it's 5th place in the annual production statistics.
